Pollachius virens

Saithe lives both on the bottom and the upper water column from 0 to 300 meters. The population is divided into two: Northeast Arctic saithe and Northsea saithe. Saithe often gathers in areas where there is plenty of food, and another key feature of the species is the long distances from their feeding and breeding grounds, to their spawning grounds. Saithes spawn in winter, on the coastal banks from Lofoten and down to the North Sea.
